Solid Waste and Sewage Manager

About the role

The Solid Waste and Sewage Manager is responsible for overseeing the operation and maintenance of solid waste handling and sewage treatment systems at the plant. Reporting to the Plant General Manager, the role ensures safe, efficient, and environmentally compliant processing of waste and wastewater in line with regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Direct daily solid waste collection, segregation, storage, transportation and disposal activities.
• Manage sewage treatment plant (STP) operations, including biological, chemical and mechanical processes, and monitor performance parameters such as BOD, COD, TSS and pH.
• Develop and execute preventive and corrective maintenance plans for waste and sewage equipment, coordinating shutdowns and emergency repairs.
• Ensure compliance with local environmental regulations, maintain documentation, and liaise with authorities during inspections.
• Enforce HSE procedures, conduct risk assessments and promote a strong safety culture.
• Lead O&M staff and third‑party contractors, providing training and managing shift schedules.
• Prepare operational reports, KPIs and manage O&M budgets, identifying cost‑reduction opportunities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Civil or Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in waste management and sewage treatment operations, with at least 5 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
• Experience in utilities, industrial plants or large facilities and knowledge of wastewater treatment processes (activated sludge, MBR, SBR, etc.).
