About the role

Scale’s International Public Sector team is seeking a Staff Full‑Stack Software Engineer to work directly with public sector partners, building AI‑powered applications that impact millions of citizens worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Lead technical strategy for public‑sector engagements, translating ambiguous mission goals into detailed architectural roadmaps.
• Design and implement production‑grade AI application frameworks, integrating interactive UIs, backend services, and AI models at scale.
• Guide cloud‑infrastructure evolution, ensuring security, global scalability, and long‑term system integrity across AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Direct development of core platforms and shared services that address cross‑cutting client needs.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional leadership to steer the technical roadmap, mentor senior and junior staff, and maintain a cohesive, future‑proof architecture.
• Convert real‑world client lessons into reusable patterns that power the broader engineering organization.

Required profile

• Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, or equivalent deep industry experience.
• 10+ years of full‑stack development experience with Python, Node.js, and React.
• Proven expertise designing high‑scale architectures on Kubernetes and global cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Strong background deploying and troubleshooting end‑to‑end solutions in high‑security environments.
• Demonstrated success building LLM‑driven solutions and anticipating future AI trends.
• Self‑driven leader capable of resolving extreme ambiguity, mentoring senior staff, and setting technical vision.
• Champion of asynchronous workflows and documentation‑first culture to accelerate global engineering velocity.
