Staff Site Reliability Engineer

About the role

This is a high‑impact reliability leadership position within a fully remote, globally operating engineering organization. As the first dedicated Staff Site Reliability Engineer, you will establish reliability practices across multiple teams and critical production systems.

Key responsibilities

• Define and implement SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets for critical request paths.
• Maintain reliability metrics and dashboards for engineering leadership.
• Strengthen the incident management lifecycle, including detection, response, post‑mortems, and follow‑up actions.
• Improve alert quality, anomaly detection, and shared operational tooling.
• Lead reliability assessments for high‑risk changes, capacity planning, and failure‑mode analysis.
• Introduce deliberate failure testing, game days, and chaos engineering exercises.
• Coach engineers to become reliability advocates and establish distributed SRE ownership.
• Develop lightweight operational standards for production readiness, on‑call practices, and runbooks.
• Collaborate with architects and technical leads to embed reliability into system design.
• Remain hands‑on during incidents, building tooling, dashboards, and automation as needed.

Required profile

• Proven experience in site reliability engineering or comparable production‑systems roles.
• Strong leadership and coaching abilities to influence engineering culture.
• Ability to work autonomously and define standards across a distributed organization.
• Excellent communication skills for incident coordination and stakeholder alignment.
