Sterilization Specialist – Technician

About the role

The Sterilization Specialist – Technician is responsible for the safe decontamination, preparation, sterilization, and distribution of surgical instruments and medical equipment in accordance with Fakeeh Care policies and regulatory standards. The role ensures that all instruments are ready for patient care and surgical procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, sort, inspect, and manually clean used surgical instruments using appropriate detergents and disinfectants.
• Operate and maintain decontamination equipment such as ultrasonic cleaners, washers, and disinfectors.
• Assemble instrument sets, package, label, and document instruments for sterilization.
• Operate autoclaves and other sterilizers, monitor cycle parameters (time, temperature, pressure), and record results.
• Perform routine biological, chemical, and mechanical monitoring tests to verify sterilization efficacy.
• Store sterilized instruments, manage inventory rotation, and distribute items to operating rooms and other departments.
• Maintain accurate records of sterilization processes, inventory levels, and quality‑control measures.
• Report equipment malfunctions, safety incidents, or instrument damage to supervisors.
