Team Leader - Production

About the role

The Production Team Leader will oversee the daily operations of an event production workshop, ensuring that scenic elements, structures, custom displays, and related furniture are fabricated efficiently, safely, and to high‑quality standards. This hands‑on position bridges project managers, designers, and the workshop floor, leading a skilled team of carpenters, welders, painters, and junior fabricators.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and motivate a high‑performing workshop team to meet tight event deadlines.
• Allocate daily tasks based on project schedules and individual skill sets.
• Conduct short daily toolbox talks to discuss status, safety and goals.
• Interpret technical and CAD drawings to guide fabrication.
• Optimize workflow to reduce waste and downtime.
• Support or lead on‑site installation and load‑in/out during high‑pressure periods.
• Communicate progress, potential delays, and material issues to project managers.
• Enforce health‑and‑safety rules, PPE use and maintain a 5S‑compliant workspace.
• Inspect finished products for defects and ensure they meet client specifications.
• Manage raw material inventory and coordinate with purchasing.
• Maintain equipment such as saws, welders and routers in good working order.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in scenic construction, exhibit fabrication or a similar fast‑paced workshop environment.
• Proven leadership abilities with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays to meet event deadlines.
