Technical Manager - Aluminum and Glass Facades

About the role

A Technical Manager position in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, within an aluminum and glass facades organization. The role covers in-house engineering and estimation from quotation through design and production drawings to product delivery, supervising a team of engineers, architects and estimators.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, assign, supervise and review the work of engineers, architects, design estimators and other personnel
• Manage design office functions such as technical approvals, fabrication and material orders, shop drawing reviews and sample submittals
• Plan project human resources to meet schedule deadlines and set internal milestones
• Liaise with consultants, contractors and suppliers on quotations and shop drawings
• Prepare cost estimates for new projects and advise subordinates during work
• Guide the structural design of metal and glass works and ensure optimized fabrication drawings, specifications, bills of materials and assembly details reach the Production Manager
• Handle technical correspondence with clients and management, and coordinate with suppliers on hardware and accessories
• Set priorities with the General/Operations Manager, set up and report KPIs regularly, and take part in operations and management review meetings
• Implement quality assurance procedures based on ISO standards and project management methodology, organize technical training for the design team and take part in recruitment

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Civil or Mechanical Engineering
• 10 years of professional engineering experience, with emphasis on aluminum and glass planning and design and supervisory work
• Sound knowledge of structural engineering and considerable knowledge of aluminum and glass facades, including estimates and specifications
• Ability to review, analyze and recommend on designs, plans and specifications
• Good command of English; Arabic and other languages are an advantage
