About the role

The Therapy Area Medical Head leads the medical strategy and execution for a therapeutic franchise, ensuring scientific excellence, strong stakeholder engagement, and alignment with global and local business objectives. This senior position shapes clinical practice and healthcare policy while representing Medical Affairs in the franchise leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute the Therapy Area Medical Strategy aligned with global and regional plans, including launch readiness, lifecycle management, and patient access.
• Translate strategy into an operational medical plan for the country or cluster.
• Lead and develop the Therapy Area Medical team (Medical leads, MSLs, etc.).
• Ensure alignment with commercial, regulatory, and access strategies.
• Maintain high standards of medical and scientific credibility within the organization.
• Oversee medical information, evidence generation, and scientific exchange with stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with pharmacovigilance and regulatory standards.
• Provide medical insights to shape clinical practice and healthcare policy.
• Support and oversee clinical trials (Phase I–IV), investigator‑initiated studies, and non‑interventional studies.

Required profile

• MD, MBBS, PharmD or PhD in life sciences (MBA is a plus).
• More than 10 years of experience in Medical Affairs within the pharmaceutical industry.
• Experience with specialty products and familiarity with the Saudi Arabian healthcare landscape.
• Significant leadership experience with a proven ability to manage and motivate diverse teams.
