Transportation Engineer – Traffic Modeling

About the role

SYSTRA is seeking a seasoned Transportation Engineer to lead traffic and mobility studies in complex urban and corridor environments. The role focuses on end‑to‑end traffic modeling, from strategic demand analysis to detailed microsimulation, providing actionable recommendations for public and private sector clients.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, calibrate and validate multi‑scale traffic models using VISUM for strategic demand and VISSIM for detailed operational simulations.
• Define data requirements, oversee collection (counts, OD matrices, GPS/FCD, AVL/APC, signal timing) and process multi‑source datasets.
• Build and assess scenarios covering masterplans, land‑use changes, network enhancements, transit priority, ITS strategies and construction traffic management.
• Evaluate performance using KPIs such as GEH, V/C, delay, travel‑time reliability, LOS, emissions and energy proxies.
• Collaborate with roadway and transit design teams to test geometric alternatives, signal control strategies and multimodal operations.
• Prepare technical reports, present findings to client authorities and secure approvals.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in macroscopic and microscopic traffic modeling.
• Proven ability to lead complex modeling projects from data collection to scenario analysis.
• Strong communication skills for interfacing with multidisciplinary teams and client stakeholders.
