Advanced Computational Scientist (HPC)

About the role

The Computational Scientist will support users of KAUST’s high‑performance computing (HPC) infrastructure, enabling cutting‑edge research in computational science, engineering, and data analysis. The role involves application installation, porting, performance tuning, and the development of training and documentation for the Shaheen II supercomputer and associated clusters.

Key responsibilities

• Provide timely user support via phone, walk‑in, email, and ticketing systems, maintaining high service standards.
• Install, port, and optimise high‑performance applications, tools, and data‑analysis software stacks.
• Develop, deliver, and update training sessions, user guides, and internal documentation.
• Collaborate with faculty, researchers, and industrial partners to meet research objectives.
• Support benchmarking activities and stay current with emerging HPC technologies.

Required profile

• PhD in a relevant field with at least three years of post‑doctoral experience in HPC environments.
• Proven ability to support research activities and work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary setting.
• Experience preparing technical documentation and delivering user training.
• Track record of publications in computational science or engineering venues.
