AI API Developer

About the role

Masterworks is looking for an AI API Developer to join its AI Core Delivery team within the AI & Analytics Center of Excellence. You will design and build secure, scalable API services that connect large language models, Retrieval‑Augmented Generation pipelines and agentic AI capabilities to enterprise applications.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain RESTful and GraphQL APIs for user interactions, queries and AI‑generated responses.
• Integrate APIs with internal systems, external data sources and enterprise applications, ensuring support for SSO and enterprise authentication (e.g., OAuth2, SAML).
• Implement scalable backend storage, caching, load‑balancing and multi‑cloud readiness to optimise performance.
• Build logging, monitoring and observability solutions using tools such as Prometheus, Datadog and ELK.
• Collaborate with LLMOps engineers to deploy and manage LLMs via secure API endpoints and support evaluation pipelines.
• Enforce security best practices, data encryption and compliance with governance and privacy standards.
• Participate in CI/CD workflows, troubleshoot API issues and incorporate user feedback to improve reliability.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field.
• Proven experience developing APIs (REST/GraphQL) using Python, Go or Node.js.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and infrastructure‑as‑code.
• Experience with containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Understanding of authentication protocols such as OAuth2, SAML and SSO.
