Assistant Driller

About the role

The Assistant Driller supports the Driller in all drilling and tripping operations, ensuring tasks are performed efficiently and safely. This on‑site position requires stepping in for the Driller when needed and managing the drilling crew according to company, client, and KCA DEUTAG standards.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise rig site order, cleanliness, and housekeeping.
• Maintain drilling tools and equipment, and assist the crew with preparation.
• Oversee loading and storage of rig equipment during moves, following Tool Pusher and Driller instructions.
• Replace the Derrickman on request and inspect the derrick/mast, recording findings and correcting defects after approval.
• Ensure proper maintenance of sheaves, drill string condition, and safe handling of equipment on the rig floor.
• Act as Driller during brake‑out, casing runs, or non‑productive zones, and apply client kick‑control procedures under Driller direction.
• Perform any additional tasks assigned by the Driller or Tool Pusher within competence.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience in drilling operations.
• IWCF Well Control Certification (or equivalent) and Banksman/Slinger certificate.
• Proven ability to train, coach, and mentor multinational crews.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Self‑motivated, capable of working independently and as part of a team.
