Assistant L&D Manager

About the role

As an Assistant Learning and Development Manager you will support the hotel’s HR function by organising, delivering and evaluating training programmes, while advising managers on policies and procedures. You will play a key role in enhancing the staff experience and ensuring compliance with health, safety and employment regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Support and advise managers on proper policies and procedures.
• Organise, deliver and evaluate training programmes to meet departmental needs.
• Assist senior managers with succession planning during bi‑annual appraisals.
• Handle employee relations matters confidentially, including disciplinaries, grievances and capability issues.
• Monitor employee absence in line with company guidelines.
• Maintain online personnel and payroll systems and produce monthly reports.
• Ensure recruitment and selection processes comply with immigration checks.
• Coordinate mandatory training for security, fire regulations and health & safety legislation.
• Help organise team‑member social events and promote the hospitality industry with local schools and organisations.
• Promote staff benefits and resolve queries from team members and management.

Required profile

• CIPD qualification or working towards it, or an equivalent HR credential.
• Knowledge of the hospitality sector.
• Good understanding of employment law and employee relations.
• Proficiency with IT systems.
