Associate Design Director

About the role

Mace is seeking an experienced Associate Design Director to lead the design delivery of a high‑value, confidential development programme in Saudi Arabia. Reporting to the Project Director, you will act as the senior design authority, guiding multidisciplinary teams to achieve design excellence while meeting client vision, budget, programme and quality targets.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the overall design strategy and delivery across a portfolio of building and infrastructure projects.
• Serve as the primary design interface between the client, PMC team, consultants and other stakeholders.
• Establish and maintain robust design governance, review and approval processes.
• Direct multidisciplinary consultant teams to ensure design quality, integration and consistency.
• Provide leadership from concept development through construction and handover.
• Chair design review meetings, technical workshops and senior stakeholder presentations.
• Manage design risks, critical interfaces and technical challenges.
• Support procurement strategies and participate in consultant and contractor selection.
• Review and endorse key technical submissions and major design decisions.
• Lead and mentor design management teams, fostering high performance.

Required profile

• Degree qualification in a relevant discipline.
• Proven experience in leading design teams on large‑scale construction programmes.
• Strong understanding of design governance, risk management and procurement processes.
• Ability to communicate strategic design advice to senior clients and stakeholders.
