Associate – Intellectual Property (IP) Lawyer

About the role

We are seeking a qualified Associate to join our growing Intellectual Property (IP) and Technology Media & Telecommunications (TMT) practice. The role is non‑contentious and focuses on advising clients across a broad range of IP and TMT matters.

Key responsibilities

• Advise on protection, registration (excluding prosecution) and licensing of patents, copyrights and trademarks, and negotiate commercial contracts including IP licences.
• Conduct legal research on telecoms, media regulation, cloud computing, software licensing, e‑commerce, mobile payments, data protection and cybersecurity.
• Draft, review and negotiate stand‑alone IP agreements, franchise agreements and IP clauses in commercial contracts for hospitality, education, construction and project sectors.
• Support M&A and corporate transactions with specialist IP/TMT due diligence, research and ancillary agreements.
• Prepare client advice, proposals, pitches, presentations and legal training materials.
• Assist the TMT team on large‑scale technology procurement, IT transformation and outsourcing projects.

Required profile

• Bilingual Arabic/English.
• 3‑5 years post‑qualification experience (PQE) from a top‑tier international or regional firm.
• 2:1 (or higher) degree classification.
• Strong drafting ability, attention to detail and experience with basic commercial contracts such as NDAs.
• Proven legal research skills and ability to work independently with a proactive commercial approach.
• Interest in developing a career within a leading IP/TMT practice in the Middle East.
