ASU Control Room Operator – Air Separation Unit

About the role

The ASU & Utilities Control Room Operator is responsible for the day‑to‑day operation of the Air Separation Unit (ASU) and associated utilities plants at the NEOM green‑hydrogen facility. The role ensures safe, reliable and efficient plant performance while supporting the overall production of green ammonia.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and monitor the ASU and utilities plants using DCS, data acquisition and alarm management systems.
• Troubleshoot abnormal conditions, respond to changes in customer demand and identify process optimisation opportunities.
• Execute daily and monthly operational routines in line with procedures, maintenance manuals and safety requirements.
• Support plant shutdown activities and maintain operational KPIs.
• Act as primary point of contact for daily communication with H₂ and NH₃ production units and maintain control‑room housekeeping.

Required profile

• High‑school diploma in a technical discipline or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in ASU and/or utilities plant DCS operations.
• Strong commitment to safety and ability to work independently in a control‑room environment.
• Good command of written and spoken English.
• Willingness to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays and on‑call rotation.

Required skills

• Interpreting PFDs, P&IDs, Single Line Diagrams and Shutdown Matrices.
• Confined Space Entry and Work Permit systems.
• DCS operations and alarm management.
• Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
