Barge Engineer – Marine Operations Specialist

About the role

The Barge Engineer is responsible for supervising and coordinating all marine activities aboard the vessel, ensuring safety, environmental compliance, and operational efficiency. This role combines technical expertise with leadership to manage rig moves, stability, lifting operations, and emergency response.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, supervise, and document rig moves, including stability calculations, weather monitoring, and soil condition assessments.
• Maintain and certify all marine equipment, including jacking systems, cranes, mooring winches, and firefighting gear.
• Conduct daily stability and ballast checks, ensuring load distribution stays within design limits.
• Oversee lifting and cargo operations, directing deck crew and ensuring safe crane usage.
• Coordinate with drilling teams to support safe drilling and work‑over activities.
• Participate in the Emergency Response Team, conduct well‑control and safety drills, and ensure personnel are trained on emergency procedures.

Required profile

• Proven experience in marine or offshore engineering environments.
• Strong knowledge of rig move planning, stability calculations, and marine equipment certification.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary crews and manage complex operational tasks.
