Chief Accountant

About the role

The Chief Accountant will support the Director of Finance in overseeing all accounting and finance functions for a luxury hotel property. This senior position ensures accurate financial reporting, controls, and compliance with accounting standards.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare financial statements, accruals, journal entries and maintain balance‑sheet reconciliations in line with GAAP.
• Assist the Director of Finance with forecasts, budgets and monthly close‑down activities.
• Oversee payroll processing and ensure timely payment of staff.
• Manage cash flow, daily cash position and safeguard company assets.
• Conduct detailed reconciliations of balance‑sheet control accounts and produce month‑end reconciliation packs.
• Implement and monitor accounting SOP audits across all hotel departments.
• Review and approve credit‑card allowances and unmatched credit reports.
• Maintain capital‑expenditure tracking and ensure compliance with internal controls.
• Monitor expense reporting, address material variances and support profitability initiatives.

Required profile

• Proven experience preparing financial statements and journal entries.
• Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting and month‑end close processes.
• Ability to manage payroll and cash‑flow functions.
• Detail‑oriented with strong reconciliation skills.
