Coater Process Engineer – Vacuum Coating

About the role

Guardian Industries is seeking a Coater Process Engineer to lead the design, optimization and support of vacuum coating processes for its glass products in Saudi Arabia. The role combines technical expertise with operational leadership to ensure product quality, safety and cost‑effective manufacturing.

Key responsibilities

• Design and optimize thin‑film coating processes for current and upcoming product projects, collaborating with the global development team.
• Provide process engineering support to plant operations, driving improvements in quality, performance and throughput of vacuum coating sputtering systems.
• Lead an operational team, ensuring safety, quality and productivity while managing process upgrades and technology transfers.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Experience with optical thin‑film technologies and vacuum coating sputtering processes in solar, semiconductor or architectural glass.
• Proven ability to apply problem‑solving methodologies such as 8D, Six Sigma and Lean to drive continuous improvement.

Required skills

• Thin‑film optical coating design and analysis tools (TFCalc, Optilayer, Essential Macleod, Ellipsometer).
• Characterization equipment: AES, XPS, SEM, TEM, X‑Ray Diffraction, X‑Rite color measurement, HunterLab spectrophotometers, PerkinElmer instruments, profilometers.
• Process improvement techniques: 8D, Six Sigma, Lean principles.
