Commis Chef – Kitchen Assistant

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Commis Chef to support our kitchen operations. Working under the senior cook, you will help prepare ingredients, maintain hygiene standards and ensure smooth service in a fast‑paced restaurant environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the senior cook in daily food preparation and cooking tasks.
• Collect required food items from stores and the butchery.
• Prepare mise‑en‑place according to the section head’s directions.
• Maintain kitchen hygiene and sanitation following established protocols.
• Record new recipes and cooking procedures after training sessions.
• Keep kitchen equipment clean, report repairs and ensure regular maintenance.
• Control food waste to stay within budgeted food cost.
• Follow health, safety and fire‑life safety policies and participate in emergency drills.
• Perform any additional duties assigned by management.

Required profile

• At least 1 month of experience in a kitchen or food‑service environment.
• Willingness to learn and follow instructions from senior staff.
• Understanding of basic food safety and sanitation standards.
• Ability to work efficiently in a team-oriented, high‑pressure setting.
