Commis (Kitchen Assistant) – Full‑Time

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Commis to join the kitchen team at a Marriott property on Ummahat Islands, Red Sea. The role supports chefs by preparing ingredients, cooking simple dishes, and maintaining a clean, safe work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and portion ingredients, including chopping, washing, and peeling fruits and vegetables.
• Weigh, measure and mix ingredients according to recipes and quality standards.
• Cook food using ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves and fryers, ensuring proper doneness and presentation.
• Prepare cold dishes and assemble plates in correct portions.
• Monitor cooking times, test foods for doneness and maintain temperature control.
• Set up and break down work stations, and clean/disinfect kitchen areas, tools and equipment.
• Follow safety, hygiene and company policies, reporting any hazards or incidents.
• Maintain professional appearance and support effective team communication.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of experience in a food‑service or kitchen environment.
• Ability to stand, walk and lift objects up to 25 lb throughout the shift.
• No supervisory experience required.
• Willingness to adhere to safety and quality standards.

Required skills

• Food preparation and portioning.
• Operation of kitchen equipment (ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, fryers).
• Basic knowledge of hygiene and safety procedures.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced team environment.
