Community Engineer (multiple roles & seniority levels)

About the role

This remote position is focused on shaping and scaling global open‑source communities that underpin widely used Linux‑based technologies. You will act as a bridge between developers, contributors, and internal engineering teams, aligning community initiatives with technical roadmaps.

Key responsibilities

• Design, coordinate and scale programs that increase engagement across open‑source ecosystems.
• Serve as liaison between community contributors and product, engineering, and developer‑relations teams.
• Improve contribution workflows, reduce friction and enable successful delivery of technical projects.
• Create high‑quality written content such as blog posts, updates and documentation.
• Engage with communities on forums, chat platforms, social channels and events.
• Represent the organization at conferences, meet‑ups and industry events.
• Identify and drive improvements to community tooling, processes and contributor experience.

Required profile

• Strong passion for open‑source software and Linux ecosystems.
• Demonstrated public track record of community engagement (e.g., GitHub contributions, talks, blog posts).
• Excellent communication, writing and presentation skills for both technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Strong organizational and program‑management abilities.
