Consultant - Ophthalmology

About the role

The Consultant in Ophthalmology provides expert clinical care for diagnosis, treatment and management of a wide range of eye and vision disorders. The role utilizes advanced diagnostic techniques and therapeutic interventions, working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure high‑quality patient outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive assessments, detailed patient histories and eye examinations using slit‑lamp, tonometry and fundus photography.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including medication, laser therapy or surgery, and monitor patient responses.
• Ensure safe, high‑quality clinical care by adhering to protocols, participating in quality assurance initiatives and reporting incidents.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, coordinate referrals and communicate patient management plans.
• Promote patient safety and satisfaction through safety protocols and feedback analysis.
• Engage in continuous professional development, CME activities and mentor junior staff.

Required profile

• Board Certified in Ophthalmology and registered with the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties as an Ophthalmology Consultant.
• Strong clinical judgment, decision‑making skills and a passion for delivering high‑quality physical and virtual care.
• Proven experience in diagnosing, managing and performing ophthalmology procedures and surgeries.

Required skills

• Proficiency with video‑conferencing platforms for tele‑health consultations.
• Experience using electronic health records (EHR) systems.
• Skilled in slit‑lamp examination, tonometry and fundus photography.
