CSSD Technician

About the role

The CSSD Technician is responsible for the cleaning, decontamination, preparation, sterilization, storage, and distribution of medical and surgical instruments. The role ensures that sterile supplies are processed safely and efficiently in accordance with infection prevention, patient safety, and hospital standards.

Key responsibilities

• Clean, decontaminate, inspect, assemble, package, and sterilize medical and surgical instruments.
• Operate sterilization and decontamination equipment according to approved procedures and safety standards.
• Monitor sterilization cycles, maintain accurate records, and ensure appropriate traceability of instruments and supplies.
• Store and distribute sterile instruments and supplies to operating rooms, clinical departments, and other hospital areas.
• Comply with infection prevention, occupational safety, quality, and hospital policies and procedures.

Required profile

• Diploma or recognized qualification in CSSD, Sterile Processing, or a related healthcare field.
• Valid SCFHS professional classification and registration.
• 1–3 years of experience in CSSD, sterile processing, or a related hospital environment.
• Knowledge of sterilization methods, decontamination procedures, infection prevention, and instrument handling.
• Hospital or healthcare experience is preferred.
