Data Center Hardware & Equipment Specialist

About the role

The Data Center Hardware & Equipment Specialist supports KAUST’s flagship supercomputer facility by ensuring that all physical infrastructure is installed, configured, and maintained to the highest standards of security and performance.

Key responsibilities

• Install, configure and maintain servers, including GPU nodes, in the HPE/CRAY supercomputer environment.
• Perform regular inspections, preventive maintenance, and physical condition monitoring of data‑center hardware.
• Manage network cabling, server racks and related equipment, following strict access and export‑control protocols.
• Maintain and update the hardware asset register and enforce hardware tracking processes.
• Collaborate with vendors, procurement and compliance teams to manage spare‑part inventories and ensure regulatory compliance (NIST SP 800‑53, export controls).
• Respond to alarms and incidents, providing rapid troubleshooting and resolution.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years of hands‑on experience in data‑center or high‑performance‑computing hardware environments.
• Proven ability to work safely in secure facilities and follow strict access procedures.
• Strong documentation habits and attention to detail for asset tracking.
