Data Center Mechanical Engineer

About the role

The Data Center Mechanical Engineer is responsible for operating, maintaining and optimizing all mechanical systems that keep the data centre running 24x7. This role ensures continuous availability of critical cooling infrastructure, HVAC, chilled water, pumps and related equipment supporting mission‑critical operations.

Key responsibilities

• Operate, maintain and troubleshoot chillers, CRAH/CRAC units, FCUs, chilled water pumps, cooling towers, HVAC, heat exchangers, water‑treatment and fuel systems.
• Execute preventive and corrective maintenance, prepare and follow OEM‑required MOPs.
• Perform authorized equipment shutdowns, startups, isolation, restoration and redundancy rotation.
• Monitor system performance, temperatures, pressures and flow; supervise mechanical technicians.
• Coordinate with OEMs and vendors for major maintenance and equipment failures.
• Respond to mechanical emergencies, support root‑cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
• Maintain cooling redundancy, reliability and operational resilience.
• Manage critical spare parts, tools, testing equipment and calibration records.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in data centre or mission‑critical facilities.
• Strong experience with chillers, CRAH/CRAC, chilled water systems, pumps and HVAC.
• Tier III/Tier IV data centre experience preferred.
• Proven troubleshooting, communication and team‑leadership abilities.
• Experience managing technicians, OEMs and contractors.
• Ability to work under pressure, on shifts and on‑call.
