Data Engineer – Remote (Saudi Arabia)

About the role

We are seeking a Data Engineer to join a fully remote, international team supporting global organisations in biotech, pharma and enterprise analytics. You will design and build scalable data pipelines that enable analytics, machine learning and scientific decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable data systems and pipelines across multiple environments.
• Integrate structured and unstructured data into data warehouses and data lakes.
• Collaborate with data scientists, ML engineers and developers to ensure data quality and accessibility.
• Develop and optimise ETL/ELT workflows for performance and reliability.
• Build and refine database schemas, data models and technical documentation.
• Implement data governance, security standards and compliance best practices.
• Monitor data systems and continuously improve scalability and efficiency.

Required profile

• Strong backend‑oriented Data Engineer with solid Python experience.
• Proficiency in modern backend frameworks such as FastAPI, Django REST Framework or Flask.
• Deep understanding of SQL, database modelling and query optimisation.
• Hands‑on experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Familiarity with integrating data from APIs, databases and streaming sources.
• Knowledge of distributed systems, data governance and security principles.
• Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or GCP) and container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
• Experience in life‑sciences, biotech or clinical data environments is a strong advantage.
