Data Lake Platform Manager

About the role

The Data Lake Platform Manager is responsible for ensuring the stability, security, scalability, and cost‑efficiency of the organization’s data lake environment. This role supports data engineers, analysts, and data scientists by providing reliable access to data for analytics, reporting, and data‑science initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day operations of the data lake platform across cloud and on‑premises environments, guaranteeing high availability and performance.
• Monitor system health, identify issues, and lead resolution efforts while overseeing compute, storage, and pipeline resource utilization.
• Optimize performance and control costs by tracking usage trends, capacity requirements, and implementing corrective improvements.
• Enforce data access controls, security policies, and compliance requirements; maintain data lifecycle management (retention, archiving, deletion).
• Coordinate platform upgrades, patches, and feature enhancements, and integrate new tools and services with minimal risk.
• Support stakeholders—including data engineers, analysts, and data scientists—by troubleshooting platform and pipeline issues and improving data discoverability.
• Define and track KPIs for platform health, cost, and usage; provide regular performance reports to leadership and maintain operational documentation.
