DCS Operator – HYCO Hydrogen Plant

About the role

The HYCO DCS Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient and stable operation of the entire hydrogen manufacturing unit from a centralized control room. Reporting to the HYCO Lead/Shift Supervisor, the operator ensures production targets, quality specifications and environmental regulations are met while supporting plant performance and process optimisation.

Key responsibilities

• Operate the Distributed Control System (DCS) to monitor and control the hydrogen plant, including the Steam Methane Reformer, CO2 removal, PSA and membrane units.
• Prepare and implement safety work permits, lock‑out/tag‑out (LOTO) procedures and assist with preventive and corrective maintenance.
• Respond to process emergencies, execute emergency operating procedures and manage plant trips when necessary.
• Monitor Safety Instrumented System (SIS) and Fire & Gas systems, ensuring compliance with safety interlocks and environmental permits.
• Report production progress and plant status to the Shift Supervisor and suggest corrective actions for any shortfalls.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience operating a DCS in an industrial hydrogen or related chemical plant.
• Strong knowledge of safety procedures, including LOTO, permit‑to‑work and emergency response.
• Ability to work in a control‑room environment and coordinate with field operators and maintenance teams.
