Design Director

About the role

The Interior Design Director leads the Interior Design Department at ARAC Engineering Consultants Company, ensuring design excellence, operational efficiency and client satisfaction across all projects. The role oversees the full design process from award through construction support while maintaining the highest standards of creativity, technical quality and commercial performance.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and maintain the company’s design vision, lead concept development and approve all major design submissions.
• Manage Interior Design Managers, Team Leaders, Designers and Visualizers, allocate resources, balance workloads and monitor department productivity.
• Oversee projects from concept through IFC, ensuring scope, budget and schedule compliance and resolving technical challenges.
• Implement quality control procedures, review drawings, specifications, material selections, FF&E and BIM/Revit standards.
• Lead client presentations, build strong relationships and ensure high client satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
• Support business development by preparing proposals, estimating fees and promoting the firm’s design capabilities.
• Ensure compliance with international design standards and coordinate with Architecture, Structure, MEP and Landscape teams.
• Monitor department profitability, control design budgets and optimise resource utilisation.

Required skills

• Proficiency with BIM and Revit standards for interior design.
• Experience using AI‑driven and other digital design technologies.
• Strong knowledge of FF&E specification and coordination.
• Ability to ensure compliance with international design codes and standards.
