Design Director - Vertical Assets

About the role

WSP is looking for a seasoned Design Director to lead the design delivery of a landmark 10 km canal master‑plan and associated vertical assets in Jeddah. This senior position offers the chance to shape a high‑impact urban development while collaborating with global partners and local consultants.

Key responsibilities

• Define and drive the overall design strategy throughout the project lifecycle.
• Manage and coordinate multiple workstreams, including local design consultants, international partners and internal teams.
• Ensure seamless design integration across infrastructure, landscape, architecture and vertical assets.
• Maintain alignment with client vision, regulatory requirements and budget constraints.
• Champion innovation, sustainability and design excellence.
• Review and approve design deliverables at each project stage.
• Facilitate stakeholder engagement with government entities, developers and consultants.
• Identify risks and implement mitigation measures.

Required profile

• Minimum 20 years of experience in architecture, urban design or related disciplines.
• Proven track record delivering large‑scale master‑planned projects with vertical assets.
• Strong leadership and coordination skills across multidisciplinary teams.
• Deep understanding of design processes, phasing and construction interfaces.
• Experience in the Middle East is preferred.
• Excellent communication, presentation and stakeholder‑management abilities.
• Degree in Architecture, Urban Design or a related field; advanced qualifications are a plus.
