Director of Contracts & Commercial for Utility Projects

About the role

The Director for Contracts and Commercial leads the commercial, contractual, procurement and financial oversight for District Cooling Plants (DCP) and Gas Farm assets. Acting as the commercial subject‑matter expert, the role ensures optimisation, risk management and lifecycle value across planning, development, transition, operation and maintenance phases.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement commercial and contracting strategies for DCP and Gas Farm infrastructure.
• Support long‑term business planning, investment decisions and value‑optimisation initiatives.
• Provide strategic advice to executive management on commercial risks, opportunities and market trends.
• Lead contract development, negotiation, award, administration and close‑out, establishing governance frameworks and policies.
• Manage contract variations, claims, disputes and settlement negotiations.
• Oversee supplier performance, contractor performance management and commercial KPI monitoring.

Required profile

• Minimum 20 years of experience in contracts, commercial and procurement management for large‑scale utility or infrastructure projects.
• Proven senior leadership and strategic decision‑making abilities.
• Strong financial oversight and budget management expertise.
• Excellent risk‑management and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
