Director of Purchasing

About the role

The Director of Purchasing will lead the purchasing function for Red Sea Coastal Trading Company, supporting the Senior Director – Strategic Procurement & Category Management. The role focuses on cost optimisation, supply continuity and sustainability across food & beverage, OS&E, consumables and services.

Key responsibilities

• Implement centralized purchasing and category management strategy aligned with business priorities.
• Translate category strategies into sourcing plans, supplier actions and contract initiatives.
• Lead purchasing execution for assigned categories ensuring cost‑effective, compliant and timely delivery.
• Conduct spend analysis, market research and supplier assessments to support sourcing decisions.
• Manage RFx, tendering, negotiation and supplier selection within delegated authority.
• Maintain supplier relationships, monitor performance and drive continuous improvement.
• Identify and mitigate supply, commercial and compliance risks.
• Prepare procurement reports and dashboards covering savings, cost avoidance and risk indicators.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Engineering or related field.
• 10–15+ years progressive experience in purchasing, procurement or strategic sourcing.
• Proven experience managing sourcing events, negotiations and supplier performance in complex environments.
• Experience with category plans for food & beverage, OS&E, consumables or similar sectors.
• Track record of delivering savings, cost avoidance and service improvements.
