Division Head – Expediting (Shipyard)

About the role

The Division Head – Expediting leads the expediting function within a shipyard environment, overseeing purchase order execution, supplier coordination and delivery performance to protect project schedules and quality. The role combines strong ERP expertise with commercial acumen to ensure timely, cost‑effective procurement.

Key responsibilities

• Review and validate purchase orders, verify supplier acknowledgment and assess feasibility of delivery dates.
• Develop and implement expediting strategies for critical orders, coordinating field visits and follow‑up plans.
• Advise the purchasing team on appropriate Incoterms and payment milestone structures.
• Monitor supplier production schedules, identify risks and propose mitigation actions.
• Conduct weekly expediting, OSD and ESR meetings and track readiness‑of‑supply for key packages.
• Escalate critical issues, propose alternatives and maintain accurate records in ERP and related systems.
• Coordinate goods receipt, logistics, payments and OSD closure.
• Lead, mentor and develop the expediting team, managing workload distribution and capability building.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration or a related field.
• 12–18 years of experience in expediting, procurement or supply‑chain roles, with prior leadership responsibility, preferably in shipyard, marine, EPC or heavy‑industry projects.
• Proven ability to manage multiple critical priorities under tight project schedules.

Required skills

• Strong working knowledge of ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle.
• Solid understanding of Incoterms, payment terms and commercial contractual conditions.
