EHSS Engineer I

About the role

The EHSS Engineer I will plan, implement and coordinate safety programmes, applying engineering principles and technology to prevent unsafe environmental and working conditions within the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Investigate industrial accidents, injuries and occupational diseases to determine causes and preventive measures.
• Report and review findings from accident investigations, facility inspections and environmental testing.
• Inspect facilities, machinery and safety equipment to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
• Conduct and coordinate employee training on safety policies, hazardous condition monitoring and use of safety equipment.
• Interview employees to gather information on unsafe conditions and incidents.
• Compile, analyse and interpret statistical data related to occupational illnesses and incidents.
• Recommend process and product safety features to reduce exposure to chemical, physical and biological hazards.
• Provide technical advice on health‑related problems and liaise with medical professionals.
• Maintain liaisons with external organisations such as fire‑training centres and emergency response agencies.
• Evaluate corrective actions, write and revise safety regulations, and ensure overall compliance with health, safety, security and environmental procedures.

Required profile

• Degree in Engineering, Occupational Health, Safety or a related discipline.
• Experience in industrial safety and health environments.
• Strong analytical and investigative abilities.
• Good knowledge of health, safety, security and environmental regulations.
• Ability to communicate effectively with staff, management and external agencies.
• Proficiency in preparing safety reports and documentation.
