Fiber Optic Testing Engineer

About the role

The Fiber Optic Testing Engineer will work in a dedicated laboratory to perform comprehensive testing of fiber optic components and cable assemblies. The role ensures compliance with international standards, supports ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation, and delivers accurate test reports to internal and external customers.

Key responsibilities

• Perform optical, mechanical, environmental, and durability testing of fibers, cables, connectors, patch cords, closures, and passive components according to IEC, ISO, Telcordia (GR) and ITU‑T standards.
• Operate, maintain, and verify laboratory equipment such as OTDR, optical power meters, light sources, spectrum analyzers, environmental chambers, and tensile/compression testers.
• Analyze test data, prepare technical reports, and ensure timely delivery of results.
• Develop, validate, and implement new test methods and procedures.
• Support accreditation activities: method validation, uncertainty calculations, proficiency testing, internal audits.
• Perform equipment calibration checks and coordinate external calibrations.
• Investigate non‑conformities and drive corrective and preventive actions.
• Maintain laboratory records, test documentation, and quality system files.
• Provide technical support to customers and assist in evaluating new equipment and technologies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Telecommunications or Electronics Engineering or a related field.
• 2–5 years of experience in fiber optic testing, telecom laboratories or TIC services.
• Experience in an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited laboratory is preferred.
• Fluent English; Arabic is an advantage.
