Forward Deployed Engineer - Data Management

About the role

Systems Ltd is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer focused on Data Management to make enterprise data and knowledge usable by AI. You will build AI‑ready data pipelines, knowledge graphs, and retrieval infrastructure that serve multiple internal practices.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement AI‑ready data pipelines and data products for cross‑practice consumption.
• Create knowledge graphs and semantic layers that structure enterprise knowledge for AI.
• Own and maintain vector and retrieval infrastructure, including embeddings, ANN indexes, and hybrid search.
• Run data quality assessments and remediation specifically for AI/ML consumption.
• Develop taxonomy, ontology, and ingestion pipelines for enterprise knowledge sources.
• Partner with GenAI Engineers, Data Scientists, and AI Architects to expose curated data as reusable assets.
• Explain the difference between BI‑grade and AI‑grade data quality to non‑technical stakeholders.
• Manage competing requests from multiple practices and document assets for self‑service reuse.

Required profile

• 5–10+ years of data engineering experience, with at least 2 years building AI‑ready data products.
• Strong collaboration skills with GenAI Engineers, Data Scientists, and AI Architects.
• Ability to prioritize requests fairly and transparently.
• Excellent documentation skills to enable self‑service reuse.

Required skills

• Knowledge graph technologies such as Neo4j, RDF, SPARQL.
• Semantic and ontology modeling.
• Vector/retrieval infrastructure (embeddings, ANN indexes, hybrid search).
• Data pipeline tools like Spark, dbt, Airflow.
• Data quality frameworks.
• Enterprise data governance and lineage tooling.
