HYCO Shift Operator – Hydrogen Production

About the role

The HYCO Shift Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient day‑to‑day operation of Air Products' HYCO hydrogen production facility. Reporting to the HYCO Lead/Shift Supervisor, the operator ensures production targets are met while maintaining strict safety and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Operate two HYCO Steam Methane Reformers and one refinery off‑gas PSA according to work instructions.
• Manage the hydrogen, steam, nitrogen and CO₂ pipeline network, delivering product to customers safely and efficiently.
• Prepare and execute safety work permits, LOTO, confined‑space entry and other APQ safety practices.
• Perform preventive maintenance activities and support corrective maintenance with the maintenance and engineering teams.
• Maintain accurate document control, monitor quality‑assurance initiatives and report shift production progress to the Shift Supervisor.
• Ensure compliance with process safety, MOC, OPHR, environmental and regulatory requirements.
• Assist in commissioning activities and follow all site work‑instruction manuals.

Required profile

• Accountable for day‑to‑day operation of a hydrogen production facility.
• Experience executing safety work permits, LOTO and preventive maintenance.
• Ability to work closely with maintenance and engineering teams.
• Strong focus on safety, reliability and documentation.

Required skills

• Operation of HYCO Steam Methane Reformers.
• Operation of refinery off‑gas PSA systems.
• Hydrogen, steam, nitrogen and CO₂ pipeline handling.
• Preventive maintenance procedures.
• Safety work permits and LOTO processes.
• Document control and production reporting.
