Intern - Building Performance Engineering

About the role

Join Buro Happold’s Middle East Buildings Environment team as a Building Performance Engineering Intern. You will gain hands‑on experience in sustainable design, energy efficiency and building‑performance analysis while supporting senior engineers on real projects.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with energy and carbon modelling using IES‑VE.
• Support thermal comfort assessments and façade optimisation studies.
• Help analyse daylight, natural ventilation, passive cooling and mixed‑mode ventilation strategies.
• Contribute to sustainability assessments against frameworks such as LEED, WELL, Mostadam, Estidama and Passivhaus.
• Participate in post‑occupancy evaluations, operational energy modelling, energy audits and building‑performance reviews.
• Research sustainable building technologies and climate‑resilient solutions.

Required profile

• Motivated and enthusiastic student interested in building performance engineering and net‑zero carbon design.
• Ability to work under the guidance of senior engineers and sustainability specialists.
• Strong analytical mindset and willingness to learn.
