Internal Audit Planning & QA Expert

About the role

The Internal Audit Planning & QA Expert will lead the design and execution of the internal audit function, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and best‑practice standards. Working with minimal supervision, the role supports risk mitigation, quality assurance, and continuous improvement across the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and update the internal audit strategy, objectives, quality‑assurance guidelines, charters, policies and procedures.
• Define audit KPIs, set targets and monitor performance against them.
• Conduct interviews with business functions to map processes, identify risks and feed the risk register.
• Consolidate audit programs into an annual audit plan, specifying scope, frequency and resource needs.
• Coordinate ongoing audit projects, provide status reports and ensure timely completion.
• Perform quality‑assurance checks, gap assessments and sampling to evaluate audit efficiency and compliance.
• Deliver training and awareness sessions to build audit team capabilities.
• Support on‑site audits by external or internal auditors and compile audit findings, non‑conformities and improvement opportunities for senior management.
• Follow‑up on corrective action plans, track implementation and investigate delays.
• Maintain accurate documentation and archiving of all audit reports and records.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading internal audit activities and developing audit strategies.
• Strong understanding of governance, risk management and compliance frameworks.
• Ability to work autonomously, influence stakeholders and act as an internal consultant.
• Excellent analytical, communication and reporting skills.

Required skills

• Knowledge of internal audit standards (e.g., IIA, ISO).
• Familiarity with risk‑register development and mitigation planning.
• Experience in quality‑assurance methodologies and performance measurement.
