IoT Engineer – Device-to-Cloud Connectivity

About the role

You will act as the bridge between field telematics devices and the cloud platform, designing and operating the connectivity layer that enables secure, reliable data flow at scale.

Key responsibilities

• Design and run the device‑to‑cloud connectivity layer using MQTT and cloud IoT services such as AWS IoT Core or Azure IoT Hub.
• Build provisioning, identity, and lifecycle workflows for large device populations.
• Develop ingestion pipelines and data processing that feed telemetry into the platform and analytics tools.
• Implement device security mechanisms including mutual TLS, certificate/key management, and secure onboarding.
• Create edge and cloud logic for command‑and‑control, remote configuration, and OTA orchestration.
• Monitor connectivity health, set up observability and alerting, and reduce device downtime.
• Collaborate with embedded engineers on data contracts and with backend teams on APIs and storage.
• Optimise cellular data usage, cost, and SIM/connectivity management across the fleet.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science, Software/Electronic Engineering or equivalent.
• 3+ years of relevant experience in IoT solutions.
• Hands‑on experience with an IoT cloud platform (AWS IoT, Azure IoT, Google Cloud IoT, etc.).
• Strong understanding of IoT protocols (MQTT, HTTP; CoAP a plus) and networking fundamentals.
• Proficiency in Python, Node.js, Go or Java for backend/edge services.
• Solid knowledge of device security, certificates and identity management.
• Experience with data pipelines, message queues or streaming technologies (e.g., Kafka, Kinesis, Pub/Sub).
