Junior Database Engineer

About the role

Pure‑IN (وقود العربية) operates fuel stations around Jeddah and is building an in‑house fuel management system. The Junior Database Engineer will own the PostgreSQL database, migrate data from an existing MySQL system and ensure every sale, tank reading and price change is recorded accurately.

Key responsibilities

• Design and apply versioned migration scripts to evolve the database schema.
• Migrate the full historical data from MySQL to PostgreSQL, rehearse the process and verify that all totals match.
• Implement de‑duplication logic so station controllers’ data is stored exactly once.
• Write automated data‑quality checks for sales totals, tank readings and time‑zone handling.
• Manage database users, roles and permissions, and maintain backups, restores and query performance.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science, IT or Software Engineering, or equivalent hands‑on experience.
• At least one project where you designed tables in PostgreSQL or MySQL and can show the code.
• Active GitHub/GitLab profile with personal commits.
• Regular use of an AI coding assistant (e.g., Claude Code, Codex) on a real project.
• Fluent in Arabic and English, currently residing in Jeddah or planning to relocate.

Required skills

• PostgreSQL – roles, permissions, migrations, EXPLAIN query plans.
• MySQL data migration and schema design.
• Scripting in Python, PHP or Node.js.
• Linux command line, SSH and server deployment.
• Version‑controlled migration scripts and backup/restore procedures.
• Experience with AI coding agents such as Claude Code or Codex.
