Lead Architect – Metro Project (Riyadh)

About the role

We are looking for a Lead Architect to join our Project Management Consultant (PMC) team on a high‑profile metro station project in Riyadh. The role supports the Engineering Manager in overseeing architectural design, technical coordination and design review throughout all project phases, ensuring the station meets the highest standards of functionality, passenger experience and design excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Engineering Manager with all architectural matters within the PMC scope.
• Act as the architectural focal point, coordinating technical reviews and design decisions.
• Manage the interface between architecture and multidisciplinary teams (structural, MEP, rail systems, urban design, landscape, specialist consultants).
• Review concept, schematic, detailed, IFC and contractor submissions for quality, compliance and completeness.
• Maintain design intent of the iconic station during development and construction.
• Support passenger‑focused planning, accessibility, safety and public‑realm integration.
• Review façade systems, internal finishes, material palettes and detailing for durability and quality.
• Monitor compliance with employer requirements, local authority regulations and transport‑authority criteria.
• Participate in coordination meetings, workshops, authority discussions and client presentations.
• Assist in value engineering while protecting critical design and operational objectives.
• Review shop drawings, material submittals, mock‑ups, RFIs and as‑built documentation during construction.
• Help resolve architectural and interface issues on site and contribute to progress reporting, risk registers and project documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from a recognized institution.
• Minimum 12 years of post‑graduate experience in architecture.
• Mandatory GCC experience, preferably Saudi Arabia, on major building, transport or infrastructure projects.
• Proven experience in PMC, design management or client‑side technical review roles.
• Experience with iconic stations, metro stations, rail projects, airports or complex public buildings is highly desirable.

Required skills

• Strong understanding of multidisciplinary design coordination.
• Knowledge of GCC project delivery standards, stakeholder expectations and authority approval processes.
