Lead Engineer - Cyber Security (Substation Automation)

About the role

GE Vernova is looking for a Lead Engineer - Cyber Security in Al Khobar. The engineer carries out cyber security design, configuration, implementation, assurance and training for the assigned projects, covering all GE business product lines including PAC, CIC and M&D. The role works with the tendering team (ITO) to propose cyber security solutions and with the execution team (OTR) on documents, drawings, configuration and FAT/SAT.

Key responsibilities

• Tendering: estimate man-days for design, support new opportunities, review RFQs and propose cyber security solutions compatible with core systems (DS Agile, GPG, CCS, CIC)
• Create an architecture reference, the Security Assurance Plan (SAP) and a BOM template for cyber security devices, and templates for estimating cyber security costs
• Execution: control man-days, prepare production documentation, approve supplier technical evaluations, support procurement and site commissioning, and take part in design reviews
• Analyse customer technical requirements, manage design issues and exceptions, and communicate with customers
• Create the Functional Design Spec (FDS) and the cyber security FAT/SAT, configure devices (switches, hubs, servers, jump boxes, firewalls, IDS), and develop the assurance and maintenance plan

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
• At least 5 years of experience in substation automation projects and OT security
• Fluent English speaking and writing (mandatory); 50% travel for missions, tenders, customer meetings and marketing
• Cyber security certification (e.g. ISA, ISC2, SANS, ISACA, CISSP) is a plus

Required skills

• Security designs and architectures, OT network topology best practices
• OT protocols and security technologies (LDAP, RADIUS, GPO, SSH, SFTP, HTTPS, TLS, DMZ, virtualization)
• Knowledge of IEC 62443, NERC CIP, IEEE 1686, IEC 62351
• Experience with telecom and network equipment, intrusion detection systems and tools such as Nozomi
• Experience with GE DS Agile, GPG or similar systems is an advantage
