Linux & Backup Administrator

About the role

For one of our clients, we are looking for an experienced Linux & Backup Administrator to join their Infrastructure Operations team. This role is responsible for managing Linux environments and enterprise backup solutions, ensuring system availability, data protection, disaster recovery readiness, and compliance with organizational policies and SLAs.

Key responsibilities

• Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Linux servers (RHEL, Rocky Linux, CentOS, Ubuntu, SUSE).
• Perform server provisioning, patching, upgrades, hardening, and lifecycle management.
• Monitor system performance, availability, capacity and overall infrastructure health.
• Manage user accounts, permissions, groups and authentication services.
• Configure and support services such as Apache, Nginx, SSH, DNS, NTP, and FTP.
• Administer enterprise backup solutions (Commvault, Veeam, NetBackup, Rubrik, Dell Networker) including policies, schedules, encryption and storage targets.
• Monitor backup jobs, investigate failures and execute file, database, VM and application restores.
• Conduct backup validation and disaster recovery testing, supporting business continuity planning.
• Develop automation scripts using Bash, Python or Ansible.
• Monitor infrastructure with tools like Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus, Grafana or SolarWinds.
• Support virtualization and cloud‑hosted Linux workloads across VMware, Hyper‑V, AWS, Azure or GCP.
• Maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, recovery plans and capacity reports.
• Assist security audits, vulnerability remediation and compliance initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• 3–8 years of experience in Linux system administration and enterprise backup platforms.
• Hands‑on experience supporting production, high‑availability and mission‑critical environments.
• Strong knowledge of Linux operating systems and storage technologies (SAN, NAS, NFS, CIFS).
• Experience with virtualization, cloud platforms and networking concepts.
• Proven troubleshooting, analytical and documentation skills.
