Machine Learning Engineer – AI Architecture Research

About the role

We are seeking a Machine Learning Engineer focused on AI Architecture Research to join our partner’s team in Saudi Arabia. The role bridges cutting‑edge research and production‑ready model engineering, allowing you to explore alternatives to conventional Transformer designs and bring novel neural architectures to scalable systems.

Key responsibilities

• Research, design, and prototype next‑generation neural network architectures, including hybrid, recurrent, and long‑context models.
• Conduct architecture‑level experiments to evaluate scaling laws, memory mechanisms, compute‑performance trade‑offs, and training behavior.
• Translate research concepts into robust, training‑ready implementations using JAX or PyTorch.
• Analyze model behavior, failure modes, and inductive biases to guide iterative improvements.
• Collaborate with inference and systems engineers to ensure efficiency, scalability, and deployability of new architectures.
• Reproduce, evaluate, and extend state‑of‑the‑art research papers; contribute to internal benchmarks and open‑source initiatives.

Required profile

• Strong foundation in machine learning and deep learning fundamentals.
• Hands‑on experience building neural network architectures from scratch.
• Ability to move fluidly between theoretical investigation, rapid experimentation, and production‑oriented engineering.
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
