Maintenance Lead Engineer – Mechanical

About the role

The Maintenance Lead Engineer – Mechanical will oversee the planning, execution, and continuous improvement of mechanical maintenance activities across a range of critical plant equipment. You will lead a team of engineers and technicians, ensuring safety, reliability, and cost‑effective operations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement inspection, maintenance, and repair schedules for gas turbines, steam turbines, generators, condensers, HRSGs, pumps, compressors, HVAC and ancillary systems.
• Lead, mentor and supervise a team of mechanical maintenance engineers and technicians, fostering a safety‑first culture.
• Provide technical guidance, troubleshooting support and in‑house training for mechanical issues.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis of failures and drive corrective actions.
• Plan and manage mechanical maintenance projects, coordinating with operations, electrical and instrumentation departments to minimise plant disruption.
• Assist the Maintenance Manager in budgeting, resource allocation and cost‑control initiatives.
• Oversee procurement, inventory management and technical evaluation of quotations for spare parts and consumables.
• Ensure compliance with environmental, safety and corporate procedures, performing regular audits and risk assessments.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, performance metrics and reporting for management review.
• Develop and implement CMMS strategies, master equipment lists and criticality studies.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading mechanical maintenance teams in a power‑generation or heavy‑industrial environment.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical equipment such as turbines, generators, HRSGs, pumps, compressors and HVAC systems.
• Demonstrated ability to manage projects, budgets and procurement processes.
• Commitment to safety, regulatory compliance and continuous improvement.
