Manufacturing Engineer – Generator Rotors

About the role

You will lead the planning, development, and optimisation of manufacturing processes for generator rotor repairs, overhauls, and full rewinds. Working closely with engineering and production teams, you will ensure high‑quality execution while reducing turnaround time and cost.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement rotor repair and rewind processes, including work instructions, routing sheets, and tooling requirements.
• Provide technical expertise for rotor dismantling, inspection, fault diagnosis, root‑cause analysis, insulation repairs, winding installation, testing and balancing.
• Maintain compliance with OEM standards, ISO regulations, safety procedures and environmental guidelines.
• Collaborate with workshop and production teams to resolve technical issues, monitor progress and improve workflow efficiency.
• Drive continuous‑improvement initiatives to standardise best practices, boost productivity and reduce costs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Extensive experience with large industrial generators and rotor repair/overhaul activities.
• Strong knowledge of rotor design, insulation systems (Class F/H, mica, VPI) and electrical testing methods.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, troubleshoot technical problems and apply analytical problem‑solving.
• Familiarity with OEM standards from GE, Siemens, ABB, Brush, Alstom, MHI.
