Mechanical Commissioning Engineer - Data Center

About the role

SGS is seeking a Mechanical Commissioning Engineer to lead commissioning activities for a state‑of‑the‑art data centre in Saudi Arabia. You will be responsible for delivering safe, compliant, and fully tested mechanical and HVAC systems that meet stringent performance criteria.

Key responsibilities

• Execute the full commissioning lifecycle, including pre‑commissioning, functional testing, performance testing, integrated systems testing (IST) and final handover.
• Commission mechanical plant such as chillers, CRAH/CRAC units, cooling towers, pumps, AHUs and associated control systems.
• Review and apply approved commissioning plans, test procedures and scripts, ensuring safety and accuracy.
• Coordinate with EPC contractors, vendors, OEMs, consultants and client teams throughout testing activities.
• Witness and document factory acceptance tests (FAT), site acceptance tests (SAT) and system testing.
• Identify issues, generate punch‑lists, and drive timely closure.
• Ensure compliance with ASHRAE, NFPA, IEC, IEEE, Uptime Institute standards and local KSA regulations.
• Maintain comprehensive commissioning records, test reports, sign‑off sheets and support O&M manual preparation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Building Services.
• 5–8 years of experience in commissioning, testing or construction of MEP systems.
• At least 3 years of experience on data‑center or mission‑critical projects is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of HSE practices and international standards.
