Mechanical Site Engineer – Water & Wastewater Infrastructure Projects

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Site Engineer to lead and coordinate all mechanical works for water and wastewater infrastructure projects. The role involves supervising installation, reviewing technical documents, managing materials, and ensuring health, safety and quality standards are met throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise installation of water distribution networks, wastewater networks, transmission pipelines, force mains, gravity sewers, valve chambers and service connections.
• Monitor installation of pipes, valves, fittings, pumps, supports, flanges and flexible joints, ensuring compliance with drawings and specifications.
• Review mechanical drawings, shop drawings and technical submittals; identify design conflicts and coordinate solutions with the project team.
• Inspect delivery, storage and installation of mechanical materials and equipment; reject non‑conforming items.
• Oversee installation of pumps, suction/discharge piping, non‑return and isolation valves, instrumentation and lifting systems, coordinating with electrical and control teams.
• Supervise hydrostatic, pressure and leakage testing, flushing and disinfection; participate in pre‑commissioning and commissioning activities.
• Prepare inspection requests, maintain testing records, produce progress reports and assist with final handover documentation.
• Ensure compliance with HSE requirements during excavation, lifting, confined‑space work and pressure testing.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Mechanical Site Engineer on water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, shop drawings and technical submittals.
• Strong knowledge of pipeline installation, pump systems and mechanical equipment commissioning.
• Familiarity with HSE standards and quality assurance procedures in construction environments.
