Mechanical Technician – Manufacturing Maintenance

About the role

The Mechanical Technician will maintain and repair mechanical equipment in our high‑volume can manufacturing plant, ensuring production lines run smoothly and downtime is minimized.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine preventative maintenance on presses, conveyors, motors, pumps and other production machinery.
• Diagnose mechanical malfunctions using blueprints, schematics and diagnostic tools.
• Execute repairs, overhauls and part replacements while adhering to safety and quality standards.
• Conduct equipment inspections, identify potential issues and suggest improvements.
• Assist with installation and commissioning of new mechanical equipment.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs and parts used.
• Support emergency breakdowns and respond promptly to critical equipment failures.
• Collaborate with production and engineering teams to optimise equipment performance.

Required profile

• Diploma or Technical Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Mechanical Technician in a manufacturing or industrial environment, preferably in high‑volume production.
• Strong understanding of mechanical principles, hydraulics, pneumatics and power transmission systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints and schematics.
• Commitment to safety regulations and ability to work shifts, weekends and holidays as needed.
